Home "Tweet" Home

With bird houses so popular right now I couldn't wait to to start crafting some for my home.

I started with these two bird houses that I found at Goodwill ... $.45 cents each on half price bric-a-brac day!! (Wasn't too excited about the beach/coastal look on the front of the birdhouse - but the price was perfect.)

Added a wooden candle stick and wood disk for the base. Two (2) coats of Ivory paint, then a quick sanding. Fast coat of varnish and a swipe of Burnt Umber to achieve the distressed look. Gorilla Glue and .... DONE !!!
Doesn't it look so-soo fabulous ... even stuck right in the middle of my Easter decorations!!

Scrappy Fabric Carrots

Who could pass on these carrots? Aren't they cute - and so-SOO easy to make. Here is what you need to make your own bunch :-)

orange fabric "torn" in to 1" strips
green fabric
styrofoam cones
pipe cleaners (I think these are also called Chenille Stems?)
hot glue gun
scissors
iron

(1) Tear orange fabric in to 1" wide strips. Remove extra threads and press open with an iron if needed. (2) Begin wrapping orange fabric around cone - dot hot glue sparingly, only to tack in place every couple of wraps. You may need to scrunch fabric in a few places to keep the strips wrapping around the cone so it looks "carrot-like."
(3) Cut out green fabric in the shape of "carrot tops" - (refer to pattern in picture) 3 leafs per carrot. (4) Cut pipe cleaner in half - fold - glue in place down the center of the leaf (don't glue to far up the leaf - you want the leaf to bend a bit - like the tops of carrots.) Run another line of glue along the top of the pipe cleaner then fold fabric together - this gives the leaf some shape. (Use any color pipe cleaner you want ... I didn't have any green so used brown.)
(5) Stick the "tops" in to the carrot (I poked 3 holes with my scissors then pushed the pipe cleaner in ... so easy, I didn't even use glue - just poked them in.(6) Carrots are now ready to serve (LOL!!!) Don't they look so cute in my little Bunny Garden.

I'm in LUV... with Burlap

I am obsessed with burlap these days. I have lots of projects on my "To Do List" that use this unique fabric. My favorite projects are these burlap wreaths. I made one for Valentine's Day and couldn't wait to make another one. They are so-soo quick and easy to put together.

Supplies Needed: 1 yard of burlap - cut in to 4" wide strips, (I luv this darker tan colored burlap!!) 1 - wire hanger bent into the shape you want, Ribbon of Choice. (Greens...to go along with my St. Paddy's day decor.)

Fold/scrunch the strips of cut burlap - then push them on to the wire hanger ... really ... it's that easy. Repeat with each strip until wire is full.
Twist ends of hanger together to form desired shape. Attach ribbons to hanger. (Notice how anxious I was to hang mine up .... I didn't even cut the top of the hanger off ... just hung it on the door!! - my bow isn't the best either ... but I still think it is fabulous !!) One of the best things about it ...I can change the ribbons out once St. Paddy's Day is over.
Isn't it just FABULOUS !!!
